Job summary

F.A.S.T. Laboratories in the Philippines seeks a Chemist to oversee and perform chemical and physical analyses, ensuring timely release of results and accurate data. The role includes preparing standards, maintaining equipment, and prioritizing laboratory tests within prescribed methods.

The successful candidate will contribute to proficiency testing programs, safeguard confidentiality, and assist in expanding capabilities through non-routinary analyses and staff training.

Qualifications

• Strictly implement the established laboratory quality system based on PNS ISO/IEC 17025.
• Provide assistance in the conduct of non-routinary analysis of new capabilities of the laboratory.
• Train new hires, laboratory staff and on-the-job trainees on physical and chemical analyses techniques.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and perform chemical and physical analyses according to specified methods to produce accurate, timely and relevant test results
• Ensure that analyses are released on time
• Prepare, review and ensure correctness of data generated
• Prepare standards and reagents required for analysis in accordance with prescribed test methods and maintain assigned equipment
• Ensure systematic workflow by regular and proper timing of laboratory tests in order of priority
• Prepare samples for subcontracting to other laboratories for analyses that cannot be done at F.A.S.T. laboratory
• Safeguard the confidentiality of test results and procedures of customers
• Observe guidelines on good housekeeping, safety guidelines and proper disposal of laboratory wastes
• Participate in Proficiency Testing and Quality Assurance programs, including method verification and validation

About the role

The Chemist oversees and performs required chemical and physical analyses according to specified methods to produce accurate, timely and relevant test results. The role ensures analyses are released on time, data is prepared and reviewed for correctness, and standards and reagents are prepared in accordance with prescribed test methods. The Chemist maintains assigned equipment, ensures systematic workflow by prioritising laboratory tests, and prepares samples for subcontracting to other laboratories where necessary.
