Job summary

ING is seeking a Chapter Lead Engineer II to lead the Trade Finance Services Interfaces Engineering Chapter. You will mentor engineers, shape technical strategy, and deliver scalable API and integration solutions that support ING's global banking operations.

You will balance people leadership with hands-on backend development in Java and Kotlin, promote secure, observable software, and collaborate with Product Owners and international teams to align technology with business priorities.

Qualifications

• Hands-on backend development with Java/Kotlin and modern Spring stack.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and enterprise integration patterns.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop engineering talent within the chapter.
• Set engineering standards across Java, Kotlin, APIs, testing, security, and observability.
• Guide architecture, design, development, and modernization initiatives.
• Partner with Product Owners and global stakeholders to translate business priorities.
• Drive automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and production excellence.
• Support incident management and risk mitigation.
