About the role
Quest Exploration Drilling (Philippines), Inc. is seeking a strategic, high-caliber Business Development Manager to spearhead market growth and help in corporate social responsibility initiatives. As a leading provider of drilling services for mineral exploration, water management, geotechnical, and slimhole geothermal exploration, this role is a high-growth track position designed for a professional with the capability and ambition to eventually transition into the company's senior management team. You will be based in the head office but will require travel throughout the Philippines as required.
Core Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Strategy
- Identify, evaluate, and secure new business opportunities within mineral exploration, geothermal, water management, and geotechnical sectors.
- Manage and deepen relationships with existing corporate clients, mining executives, government bodies, and joint-venture partners.
- Develop tailored technical and commercial proposals, ensuring alignment with QED's high operational standards.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to position QED as the preferred drilling contractor.
- Liaise with host communities, regulatory agencies (including regional offices) as DENR-MGB and DOE, and local government units (LGUs), especially when the company will have a new project in an area it has not previously worked on.
- Proactively manage community expectations, resolve localized conflicts, and in extreme cases, work in close coordination with the client to mitigate political or social risks associated with the client's drilling project.
Leadership & Executive Track Succession
- Actively participate in sales forecasting and strategic corporate planning sessions together with the current senior management team.
- Align business development goals with the company's long-term financial and operational objectives.
- Spearhead business development functions of the company.
Key Qualifications
Experience & Industry Exposure
- Industry Background: Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience and exposure to mineral exploration, mining, geothermal energy, or heavy civil/geotechnical engineering sectors.
- Network: Established relationships with key stakeholders in the Philippine mining and energy sectors, knowledge on LGUs, and regulatory bodies will be a plus.
- Business development function in the past will definitely be an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to think like a business owner and future executive.
- Demonstrate exceptional conflict-resolution skills with the ability to navigate complex socio-political concerns that may be faced.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Tagalog or regional dialects will be an advantage.
- Willing to travel frequently to remote drilling sites and provincial offices. Possesses valid driver's license.
