Job summary

Ayala Malls is seeking a Building Engineer to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance of mall facilities, equipment, and systems. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance, energy management, and strict safety and quality standards.

You will collaborate with Operations, Technical, Projects, and Safety teams to create environments that support outstanding customer experiences and seamless mall operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
• Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME) or Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) is required.
• 3–5 years’ experience in Mall/Retail, Property Management, or related industries.
• Strong technical aptitude in building systems, utilities, and preventive maintenance.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
• Knowledge of safety standards and facility management processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee facilities operations and preventive maintenance to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Plan and perform preventive and corrective maintenance per standards and schedules.
• Support energy-saving initiatives and monitor utilities consumption.
• Review technical plans, scopes of work, and cost estimates for projects.
• Coordinate with mall operations, vendors, and service providers for service quality.

Job Summary

The Building Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring that mall facilities, equipment, and infrastructures are safe, reliable, and efficiently maintained. The role focuses on upholding operational excellence by implementing preventive and corrective maintenance programs, supporting energy‑management initiatives, and ensuring that all facilities comply with Ayala Malls’ high standards of safety, quality, and performance.

Building Engineers closely collaborate with Operations, Technical, Projects, and Safety teams to deliver an environment that supports an exceptional customer experience and seamless mall operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Building Engineer is responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and management of mall facilities and equipment. This includes ensuring optimal equipment performance, implementing maintenance programs, supporting energy‑saving initiatives, and monitoring ongoing construction projects. The role ensures that all building systems contribute to a safe, comfortable, and efficient mall environment.

Job Scope

1. Facilities Operations & Preventive Maintenance

• Ensure all mall equipment and facilities remain in optimal working condition to support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Conduct regular inspections of electromechanical systems, utilities, and mall facilities.
• Execute both preventive and corrective maintenance activities in compliance with established standards and schedules.
• Monitor utilities consumption and implement energy‑conservation and cost‑efficiency measures.

2. Technical Support & Work Request Management

• Track, update, and communicate the status and completion of work requests to relevant stakeholders.
• Provide technical expertise during troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and validation of systems.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including as‑built plans and maintenance records.

3. Construction Monitoring & Project Support

• Oversee construction, renovation, and repair activities to ensure strict adherence to technical guidelines, safety standards, and design specifications.
• Prepare, review, and evaluate technical plans, scope of works, and cost estimates for various projects.

4. Safety Management

• Implement and support mall safety programs to minimize risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Participate in safety inspections, emergency readiness initiatives, and risk‑mitigation programs.

5. Coordination & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with mall operations, marketing, leasing, and asset management teams to support business and customer needs.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure service quality and timely completion of works.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Must be a Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME) or Registered Electrical Engineer (REE)
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in Mall/Retail, Property Management, or related industries
• Strong technical aptitude in building systems, utilities, and preventive maintenance
• Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination skills
• Knowledge of safety standards, engineering best practices, and facility management processes
• Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with relevant technical software is an advantage
