Job summary

MicroSourcing seeks a detail-oriented medical billing specialist to join our remote night-shift team. You will identify and resolve patient and insurance billing issues, verify benefits, follow up on denials, and manage patient AR.

The role supports HIPAA compliance and coordinates with clinical staff. The ideal candidate has experience with ICD/CPT coding, reviews patient bills and EOBs, and communicates effectively to resolve billing questions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ICD/CPT coding used for mental health or primary care
• Ability to review and interpret patient bills and EOBs
• Ability to identify data inaccuracies and correct them independently
• Experience working with medical providers, support staff, and patients in a collaborative environment

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve patient and insurance billing issues.
• Verify benefits for various service lines.
• Follow-up on denied, appealed, and reconsideration of claims.
• Manage patient AR: collect outstanding accounts, process payments, discuss insurance and billing questions.
• Update insurance payor information and profiles.
• Support clinical staff, physicians, and front office staff with policy, authorization, and payment questions.
• Analyze insurance processes, productivity, aging, and revenue cycle reporting.
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Answer incoming patient and insurance calls.
• Apply working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance Payors, Workers’ Compensation, and Managed Healthcare.

• Accredited or certified biller/coder with mental health billing experience.
• Previous experience with medical billing software systems.
• Experience working in a fast-paced medical office environment.
• Knowledge of patient registration, charge entry, and medical policies.
• Advanced problem-solving, error detection, and interpersonal communication skills.
