Job summary

NightOwl Consulting seeks an experienced Business Intelligence Developer to design and maintain reporting and analytics solutions. You will build scalable data models, dashboards, and ETL pipelines, ensuring data accuracy and governance while translating business needs into actionable insights.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, work with Azure-based platforms, and support production BI systems in a fast-paced environment, often remotely. 2–5+ years in BI is expected.

Qualifications

• 2-5+ years of experience in BI, analytics, or data-focused roles.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative field or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience with Power BI and DAX or similar BI tools and languages.
• Strong SQL skills for data querying and transformation.
• Experience with data modeling (dimensional modeling, semantic layers).
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure or similar cloud platforms.
• Strong understanding of data quality, validation, and governance practices.
• Experience working with structured deployment processes (e.g., CI/CD, Azure DevOps).
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports using BI tools (Power BI).
• Develop and manage datasets, data models, and semantic layers to support reporting.
• Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into analytics solutions.
• Ensure data accuracy, quality, and consistency across reporting systems.
• Develop and maintain documentation for data models, reports, and processes.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and reporting solutions.
• Implement and maintain data governance and best practices.
• Work with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure) to support analytics solutions.
• Assist in integrating data from internal and third-party systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve data processes and reporting efficiency.
• Provide support for production BI and analytics systems.
• Additional duties as assigned.
