Job Summary
The Barista is responsible for crafting high-quality coffee and specialty beverages while providing an exceptional customer experience. This role combines technical skill—such as dialing in espresso, steaming milk perfectly, and creating latte art—with warm hospitality and boosted confidence. The Barista ensures the beverage bar operates efficiently, meets strict safety and sanitation standards, and remains a welcoming focal point for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
1. Beverage Preparation & Quality Control
- Calibrate coffee equipment daily to ensure optimal extraction, milk texture, and beverage quality.
- Dial in espresso grinders daily, monitoring extraction times and flavor profiles to maintain quality standards.
- Steam milk to the correct temperature and texture, executing clean latte art consistently.
- Follow precise recipes and presentation guidelines for every drink order.
2. Guest Service & Order Management
- Greet guests warmly, take accurate orders, and answer questions regarding coffee origins, flavor notes, and allergens.
- Process transactions efficiently through the POS system, handling cash and digital payments accurately.
- Upsell or recommend pastries, retail coffee bags, and food pairings to enhance the guest experience.
3. Bar Sanitation & Equipment Maintenance
- Clean and maintain the espresso machine, grinders, and brewing equipment throughout the shift (e.g., backflushing, cleaning steam wands).
- Keep the entire bar station, condiment counter, and seating area pristine and organized.
- Monitor inventory levels of milk, coffee beans, syrups, and paper goods, communicating restocking needs to management.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a barista in a specialty coffee shop or high-volume café.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and basic equipment calibration. Latte art skills are highly preferred.

Compensation, Benefits, and Work Schedule
- Schedule: 6 days a week, on a shifting basis (rotation includes morning & midshift).
- Incentives: Eligible for a share in the monthly Service Charge collection.
