Job summary

Manulife Financial Corporation is seeking a Balance Sheet Substantiation COE - Senior Finance Analyst to ensure accuracy and compliance of balance sheet accounts and to enhance reconciliation processes. You will work with regional offices and business units to improve governance and efficiency in substantiation activities.

The role supports financial reporting, GL and suspense reconciliations, and close processes within a global finance team, promoting accuracy and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is an advantage.
• 5+ years in accounting operations or financial reporting; insurance experience preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Experience with shared services or offshore teams is an advantage.
• Advanced Excel; PowerBI experience is a plus.
• Able to drive continuous improvement and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills with senior officers.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate balance sheet reconciliations (including insurance accounts).
• Provide timely balance sheet commentary for business reviews and decisions.
• Collaborate with regional teams to ensure sufficient information.
• Ensure IFRS17, GAAP, and company policy alignment in balances.
• Identify and resolve reconciliation discrepancies with Finance partners.
• Escalate unresolved issues to Manager and participate in governance meetings.
• Maintain audit trails and document reconciliation activities.
• Suggest process improvements and identify reconciliation tools.
• Partner with stakeholders to address process pain points and scale benefits.
