Job summary

C9 is seeking an Azure API Management (APIM) Developer to design, develop, configure, and maintain secure API solutions in a remote-first setup aligned to Australian business hours. The role focuses on uplifting internal delivery capability and may evolve into casual/project work after the initial term.

You will work within an Agile team to implement APIM policies, integrate with Azure and third‑party systems, and ensure reliable API delivery while adhering to security and deployment standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure and APIM.
• Strong understanding of API gateways and lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, API keys and certificates.
• Experience integrating APIs with Azure services and third-party systems.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
• Ability to work remotely with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

Location: Cebu or Manila, Philippines (Remote-first, aligned to Australian business hours - AEST)

The Role

C9 is looking for an Azure API Management (APIM) Developer who will be responsible for designing, developing, configuring, and maintaining secure and scalable API solutions using Microsoft Azure API Management. You will work within an Agile team to implement API gateways, policies, integrations, security controls, and monitoring solutions, ensuring reliable API delivery that meets client requirements and follows established technical standards.

There may be occasional involvement in client projects where your expertise is required, but the core purpose of this fixed-term role is to uplift C9's internal delivery capability. After the initial fixed-term engagement, there may be an opportunity to continue with C9 on a casual, contract or project-by-project basis as needs arise.

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure and Azure API Management (APIM).

• Strong practical understanding of:

• Azure API Management

• API gateways and API lifecycle management

• APIM policies and policy expressions

• RESTful APIs and API integration

• API authentication and security

• Hands‑on experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, API keys, certificates, and related security mechanisms.

• Experience integrating APIs with Azure services, backend applications, and third‑party systems.

• Experience troubleshooting and supporting APIs in production environments.

• Understanding of cloud‑based architecture and Azure best practices.

Project & Delivery Skills

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.

• Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, Jira (or equivalent), and modern development workflows.

• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.

• Comfortable working remotely with distributed teams while remaining accountable for outcomes.

• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem‑solving capability.

• Proactive, self‑directed, and delivery‑focused.

• Strong attention to detail with a pragmatic approach under pressure.

• Able to explain technical decisions clearly to teammates and non‑technical stakeholders.

• Enjoys working in collaborative, outcome‑oriented engineering teams.

Bonus (Nice to Have)

• Experience with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, or other Azure integration services.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep.
