Microsoft Fabric and Databricks Developer
Location: Cebu or Manila, Philippines (Remote-first, aligned to Australian business hours – AEST)

The Role
The Microsoft Fabric & Databricks Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Databricks. You will work within an Agile team to build and optimise data pipelines, lakehouse architectures, data transformations, and analytics solutions, ensuring reliable, secure, and cost-effective delivery that meets client requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Databricks.
- Build, configure, and optimise ETL/ELT data pipelines to ingest, transform, validate, and load data from multiple sources.
- Develop and maintain Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Databricks components, including tables, data models, notebooks, and data processing workflows.
- Develop data transformations and processing logic using SQL, Python, PySpark, and Spark.
- Integrate data from multiple sources and systems while maintaining data consistency across environments.
- Monitor data pipelines and jobs, investigate failures, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes or enhancements.
- Implement data validation, error handling, monitoring, and data quality checks to ensure reliable datasets.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of data pipelines and transformations.
- Optimise pipelines, queries, notebooks, and Spark jobs to improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD processes, version control, environment promotion, and production deployment workflows.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, analysts, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, estimate development tasks, participate in code reviews, and deliver features.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering or data development roles.
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks in production or enterprise environments.
- Strong practical understanding of:
- Data engineering and ETL/ELT pipelines
- Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse
- Databricks and Apache Spark
- SQL, Python, and PySpark
- Data transformation and integration
- Experience developing and supporting scalable data pipelines and processing workflows.
- Experience working with structured and semi-structured data from multiple sources.
- Understanding of data quality, validation, monitoring, and error handling.
- Hands‑on experience troubleshooting and supporting production data solutions.
Project & Delivery Skills
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, Jira (or equivalent), and modern development workflows.
- Experience with CI/CD, version control, and automated deployment processes.
- Comfortable working remotely with distributed teams while remaining accountable for outcomes.
- Strong debugging, performance optimisation, and problem-solving capability.
- Proactive, self‑directed, and delivery-focused.
- Strong attention to detail with a pragmatic approach under pressure.
- Able to explain technical decisions clearly to teammates and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Enjoys working in collaborative, outcome‑oriented engineering teams.
Bonus (Nice to Have)
- Experience with additional Microsoft Fabric capabilities such as Data Factory, Data Warehouse, Power BI, or Real‑Time Intelligence.
- Experience with Azure services commonly used within modern data platforms.
- Exposure to:
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep
- Data governance and security
- Experience in consulting or multi‑client delivery environments.
- Prior experience working with Australian or international clients.
