Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver comprehensive automotive curriculum covering engine systems, transmission, electrical systems, diagnostics and repair techniques
• Conduct practical, hands‑on training sessions in workshop environments using modern automotive equipment and tools
• Create engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that align with vocational education standards and industry best practices
• Assess student performance through practical examinations, assignments and ongoing evaluation to ensure competency standards are met
• Maintain a safe and well‑organised workshop environment, ensuring all tools, equipment and facilities are properly maintained and comply with health and safety regulations
• Mentor and guide students in developing both technical and professional skills necessary for employment in the automotive industry
• Stay current with automotive industry developments, technological advancements and emerging repair techniques
• Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate curriculum development and share best practices in vocational automotive education
• Document student progress and prepare reports on achievement and areas for improvement

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as an automotive technician or in a related automotive trade role, with a minimum of 3-5 years of hands‑on industry experience
• Formal qualifications in automotive technology, mechanics or a related vocational field
• Certification in automotive repair and maintenance or equivalent industry-recognised credentials
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including petrol and diesel engines, electrical systems, suspension, braking systems and diagnostics
• Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment and workshop tools
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to students at various learning levels
• Demonstrated ability to create a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment
• Passion for vocational education and commitment to developing the next generation of automotive professionals
• Physical capability to perform demonstrations and practical work in workshop environments
• Willingness to engage in professional development and keep abreast of industry advancements
