Job Description: We are hiring an Automation Engineer to direct factory deployment, equipment development, and smart manufacturing automation for high-precision consumer electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead specification, development, FAT/SAT, and factory commissioning of automated equipment.
Direct technical execution in robotics, precision motor control, adhesive dispensing, vision-guided pick & place, screw driving, and AOI systems.
Apply Design for Automation (DFA) early in product architecture (pre-EVT) to enable feasibility.
Generate detailed Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS) for automation systems.
Manage automation vendors from RFP through acceptance testing across global cross-functional teams and CM automation programs.
Must Have:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Automation, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
8+ years in automation engineering with hands-on equipment development and factory deployment.
Led specification, development, FAT/SAT, and factory commissioning of automated manufacturing equipment.
Deep expertise in robotics, precision motor control, adhesive dispensing, vision-guided pick & place, screw driving, and AOI systems.
Experience with Design for Automation (DFA) — influencing product architecture (pre-EVT) to enable automation feasibility.
Ability to generate detailed Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS) for automation systems.
Proven automation vendor management from RFP through acceptance testing.
Experience managing cross-functional, global teams and CM automation programs.
Good To Have:
Master's Degree in Mechanical, Controls, or Mechatronics Engineering.
Direct experience in high-volume, high-precision consumer electronics (smartphones, wearables, earbuds).
Fluency with NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD for fixture/tooling design.
Proficiency in DOE, GRR, and statistical analysis (Minitab or equivalent).
ROI methodology and CapEx/headcount justification experience.
Experience with SCARA / 6-axis robot programming (FANUC, ABB, Kuka, Universal Robots).
Knowledge of machine vision systems (Cognex, Keyence) and PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
Track record of cost reduction through automation innovation.
