Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Licensed Electrical Engineer or relevant professional certification.
  • 3–5 years in facilities management or maintenance operations.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes and safety standards.
  • Experience with HV/LV systems, power distribution, and building automation.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems including HV/LV, transformers, generators, UPS, and lighting.
  • Perform inspections and testing to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Coordinate with contractors for preventive maintenance and upgrades.
  • Respond to emergencies with rapid assessment and resolution.
  • Maintain maintenance records using CMMS and asset registers.
  • Support energy management and sustainability initiatives.

What this job involves:

As an Assistant Facilities Manager specializing in electrical engineering, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the operational excellence and technical reliability of critical building systems. This position combines hands‑on technical expertise with strategic facility management, where you’ll oversee electrical infrastructure, coordinate maintenance activities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll work closely with engineering teams, contractors, and client stakeholders to maintain safe, efficient, and compliant facilities that support business operations. Your technical acumen and problem‑solving abilities will be essential as you manage electrical systems, respond to critical issues, and implement preventive maintenance strategies that minimize downtime and optimize building performance.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems including HV/LV distribution, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and lighting infrastructure
  • Conduct regular inspections and testing of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers to execute planned preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and system upgrades
  • Respond to electrical emergencies and technical failures, providing rapid assessment, troubleshooting, and resolution to minimize business disruption
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, test results, asset registers, and compliance records using computerized maintenance management systems
  • Support energy management initiatives by monitoring consumption patterns, identifying efficiency opportunities, and implementing sustainability measures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on facility projects, renovations, and capital improvement programs requiring electrical engineering input
  • Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for management and client stakeholders
  • Mentor junior technicians and support the development of technical capabilities within the facilities team
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification
  • Licensed Electrical Engineer or recognized professional certification relevant to your location
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facilities management, building services engineering, or technical maintenance operations
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and safety regulations including NEC, IEC, or local equivalents
  • Demonstrated experience with HV/LV electrical systems, power distribution, backup power systems, and building automation
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues under pressure
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred qualifications:
  • Professional registration with relevant engineering bodies or institutions
  • Experience working in commercial real estate, corporate facilities, or critical environment operations
  • Knowledge of energy management systems, sustainability practices, and green building standards
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Maximo, SAP, or similar platforms
  • Project management experience including planning, budgeting, and contractor coordination
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and integration of electrical systems with smart building technologies
