Makro Philippines seeks an Assistant Accounting Manager to support the Accounting Manager in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, focusing on GL reconciliation, financial statement preparation, and tax compliance.

As part of a growing retail startup, this role requires a detail-oriented accounting professional who can help build strong processes and controls as the finance function scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5–7 years of accounting experience with GL reconciliation, financial statements, and taxation.
• Experience with Philippine tax regulations and statutory compliance is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform GL reconciliation ensuring accuracy and integrity across financial records.
• Manage accounts payable processes including invoice processing, vendor reconciliation, and payments.
• Assist in tax return preparation and filing in line with BIR regulations.
• Support month-end and year-end close including journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
• Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
• Review payment requests and supporting docs for accuracy/compliance.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal/external audits.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve accounting issues.
• Review and guide junior accounting staff.
