Job Description
The Assistant Accounting Manager supports the Finance Manager in overseeing the company’s accounting operations across multiple business units, including retail, distribution, and e-commerce channels. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, process optimization, and effective supervision of accounting staff within a fast-growing and multi-entity environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Supervise daily accounting operations including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), treasury, and general accounting
- Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
- Monitor high-volume retail and e-commerce transactions
Multi-Entity & Systems Management
- Oversee accounting operations across multiple legal entities
- Assist in ERP system implementation and optimization (Oracle NetSuite)
- Support POS integration and financial system improvements
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity across systems
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with Philippine tax regulations and statutory requirements
- Monitor timely BIR filings and government remittances
- Strengthen internal controls to prevent fraud and accounting errors
- Support audit preparation and documentation
Process Improvement
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements
- Help establish standardized accounting procedures across companies
- Support the transition to shared service accounting operations
Team Supervision
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Delegate tasks and monitor team performance
- Ensure reporting deadlines and deliverables are met
- Promote cross-functional coordination with other departments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or related field
- CPA license is an advantage
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience in retail, distribution, or high-volume transaction environments preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Philippine tax regulations and statutory compliance
- Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
