Job summary

Miguelitos International Corp. in Manila seeks a Senior Accountant to oversee daily accounting operations and produce compliant financial statements. You will lead a small team, develop internal controls, and coordinate with external auditors.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in accounting with supervisory exposure, a solid knowledge of PFRS and tax rules, and strong Excel/ERP skills. This role is on-site in Manila with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA qualification preferred.
• 5–7 years in accounting with 2–3 years in a supervisory role and SAP experience.
• Extensive knowledge of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and local tax regulations.
• Strong Excel and ERP system proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting operations: AP, AR, GL, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and ensure accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per PFRS.
• Lead and develop accounting staff, including training and performance management.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end closing and liaise with external auditors.
• Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and advise senior management.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and coordinate with tax advisors.
• Maintain accurate records and support documentation for regulatory purposes.
• Assist in budgets and forecasts with financial analysis for decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations
• Prepare, review and ensure accuracy of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and relevant accounting standards
• Lead and supervise accounting staff, providing guidance, training and performance management to ensure team effectiveness and professional development
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency
• Manage the general ledger and coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes
• Liaise with external auditors and prepare necessary documentation for audit purposes
• Monitor and analyse financial performance, highlighting variances and providing recommendations to senior management
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and coordinate with tax advisors on matters requiring external expertise
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and provide financial analysis to support business decision-making

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent is preferred
• Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in accounting roles, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity and wide experience in SAP
• Extensive knowledge of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and local accounting and tax regulations
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is advantageous
• Demonstrated expertise in financial statement preparation, general ledger management and month-end/year-end closing procedures
• Strong understanding of internal controls, audit processes and financial compliance requirements
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop accounting staff
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and data analysis
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly
• Professional integrity and commitment to ethical financial practices
