An Apparel Textile Designer specializing in activewear is responsible for creating innovative fabric designs, prints, and textures that enhance both the aesthetic and performance aspects of athletic and sportswear. This role involves collaborating with fashion designers, product developers, and material scientists to develop functional, stylish, and trend-forward textiles.
Key Responsibilities
- Textile Design & Development: Create original print designs, patterns, and fabric textures tailored for activewear.
- Develop color palettes, graphics, and repeat patterns for fabrics.
- Research and experiment with different fabric treatments and finishes for performance enhancement (e.g., moisture-wicking, compression, stretch, and durability).
Qualifications
- Degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and textile design software (e.g., NedGraphics, AVA, CLO3D, Procreate, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of textile production processes, printing techniques, and fabric treatments.
- Experience working with performance fabrics like spandex, nylon, polyester, and sustainable textiles.
- Understanding of color theory, print development, and textile repeats.
- Excellent trend research and creative problem-solving skills.
- Experience collaborating with fashion designers, product developers, and manufacturers.
- Knowledge of sustainable textile innovation and emerging material technologies (a plus).
