Job summary

Al Suroor United Group is seeking a fashion designer to create original clothing and accessories, reflecting current trends and the brand’s artistic vision. You will work across trend research, design development, prototype creation, and production oversight to ensure quality and timely delivery.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related fields, with experience in pattern-making and a proficiency in design software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field.
  • Experience in design, pattern-making, or textile development preferred.
  • Proficiency in design software (Adobe Suite, CLO 3D) and garment construction knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Trend research: identify emerging fashion trends, fabrics, colors, and designs.
  • Design development: sketch designs, create technical drawings, select fabrics and trims, develop mood boards.
  • Prototype creation: collaborate with pattern makers and sample developers, oversee fittings and adjustments.
  • Production oversight: work with production teams to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
  • Collaboration: align designs with marketing, merchandising, and sales goals; communicate with suppliers.
  • Brand representation: present collections to buyers and maintain brand identity.
  • Education & credentials: university prerequisites from recognized Philippine institutions.

Job description

A fashion designer is responsible for creating original clothing, accessories, or footwear. They conceptualize and design products that reflect current trends, meet consumer needs, and embody a unique artistic vision. Fashion designers work in various capacities, from high-end couture to mass-market apparel, and may specialize in specific categories such as menswear, womenswear, children’s wear, or sportswear.



Trend Research


  • Conduct market research to identify emerging fashion trends, fabrics, colors, and designs.

  • Analyze consumer preferences and competitors to forecast upcoming styles.



Design Development


  • Sketch designs and create technical drawings (by hand or using computer-aided design software, e.g., Adobe Illustrator).

  • Select fabrics, trims, and materials for prototypes.

  • Develop mood boards, color palettes, and concept presentations.



Prototype Creation


  • Collaborate with pattern makers and sample developers to create prototypes.

  • Oversee fittings and make adjustments to ensure the design aligns with the vision.



Production Oversight


  • Work closely with production teams to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.

  • Approve fabric swatches, trims, and production samples.



Collaboration


  • Work with marketing, merchandising, and sales teams to align designs with business goals.

  • Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers for sourcing and production.



Brand Representation


  • Present collections to buyers, retailers, or fashion show audiences.

  • Maintain the brand’s identity and adhere to its aesthetic principles.

Work Environment

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.

  • Creative Skills: Strong sense of color, texture, and style with an ability to create innovative designs.

  • Business Acumen: Understanding of the fashion market, consumer behavior, and pricing strategies.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills for teamwork and pitching designs.

  • Must be a graduate (or graduating) from one of the following universities:
