Job Overview

An apparel designer is responsible for creating and developing clothing, accessories, and footwear that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. They work in a variety of settings, including fashion houses, retail brands, or as independent designers.

Responsibilities

• Create new clothing and accessory collections based on trends, consumer preferences, and brand identity.
• Sketch designs by hand or using design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CAD).
• Select fabrics, materials, and trims to suit the design concept.
• Collaborate with technical designers to create prototypes and ensure the designs are practical for manufacturing.
• Stay updated on current fashion trends, color palettes, and fabric innovations.
• Research competitor brands and analyze market demands.
• Attend fashion shows and events to gather inspiration.
• Work closely with manufacturers, suppliers, and pattern makers to bring designs to life.
• Monitor the production process to ensure quality standards are met.Oversee sample fittings and adjust designs as needed.
