EastWest Banking Corporation in Makati is seeking an API Engineer to design, develop, test, implement, and support secure, scalable APIs and integration services across the bank's applications, digital channels, internal systems, and external partners.

You will ensure API solutions align with architecture, governance, and security standards while supporting digital banking and Open Finance initiatives.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in a tech field.
• 3-8+ years of software development or API engineering experience.
• Hands-on API design, development, testing, deployment, and support in enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in REST APIs, microservices, API gateways, CI/CD, and cloud technologies.
• Experience in banking or regulated industries is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

What the role will entail

• Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and reusable APIs and integration services that support business requirements and enterprise architecture standards.
• Create and document API specifications, technical designs, and development artifacts while following established coding standards and best practices.
• Conduct unit and integration testing, resolve defects, and ensure APIs meet quality, performance, and security requirements prior to deployment.
• Support API deployments, troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to ensure stable operations.
• Monitor API performance, availability, and usage, and implement enhancements to improve reliability, scalability, and response times.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, QA, and business teams to ensure compliance with security, governance, and regulatory requirements while driving automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or any related technology field.
• 3-8+ years of experience in software development, API engineering, application development, system integration, or application support.
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting APIs and integration solutions in enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in REST APIs, microservices, API gateways, CI/CD pipelines, cloud technologies, and modern software development practices.
• Experience in banking, financial services, fintech, or other highly regulated industries is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Results-oriented professional with a strong focus on quality, security, continuous improvement, and staying current with emerging technologies; senior candidates should be able to mentor team members and contribute to engineering best practices.
