Job Summary
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, strengthening internal controls, and supporting management through reliable financial information.
This role oversees month-end close, accounting policies, ERP integrity, supplier payables, and budget and forecast support in accordance with IFRS or Philippine GAAP.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Closing and Reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes.
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Perform consolidation activities, including intercompany eliminations and related journal entries
- Prepare and perform initial review of monthly financial reports prior to management submission.
2. Accounting Policies, Procedures, and Internal Controls
- Develop and update existing accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation and effective communication (“cascading”) of policies to all affected personnel.
- Implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Conduct accounting and policy training for new employees.
3. Regulatory and Statutory Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including timely filings and reporting.
- Liaise with external auditors and bank auditors, as required
- Act as the primary accounting point of contact for regulatory agencies, including:
- Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA)
- Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
- Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
4. ERP and Accounting System Management
- Maintain the integrity of the ERP system and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
- Ensure accounting records comply with IFRS or Philippine GAAP.
- Coordinate with internal teams to resolve booking, system, and reporting issues.
5. Supplier Payables Review and Management
- Review supplier payables to ensure validity, completeness, and proper supporting documentation in line with tax requirements.
- Analyze long-outstanding payables, discuss issues with relevant stakeholders, and recommend appropriate resolutions.
6. Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial Monitoring
- Support annual budget preparation and quarterly forecast processes.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast.
- Track and monitor compliance with debt covenants and provide timely reporting to management.
Key Competencies
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Philippine GAAP
- Solid understanding of Philippine tax and regulatory requirements
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to implement controls, improve processes, and train staff
- Strong coordination and communication skills
Other Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
- Certified Public Accountant, an advantage.
- 3-5 years related work experience.
- Exposure to manufacturing business would be an advantage
