Join Acquire Intelligence as an Accounts Payable Team Lead and take ownership of accounts payable operations within a dynamic, growth-focused organisation. This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with effective team leadership and a commitment to operational excellence.

You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of vendor payments, maintaining financial records, and supporting month-end close and audit activities. From overseeing payment runs and monitoring team performance to strengthening internal controls and improving processes, you will be a trusted partner in driving efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement across the accounts payable function.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert for accounts payable processes, ensuring operational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards
• Lead and manage the AP team, providing direction on task prioritisation, workload allocation, and day-to-day operational activities
• Review and validate expense reports, vendor invoices, and payment requests to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with approval requirements
• Oversee payment runs and cash flow reporting, ensuring timely and accurate vendor disbursements
• Reconcile accounts payable ledgers against the general ledger and vendor sub-ledgers, investigating and resolving discrepancies
• Ensure proper maintenance of financial records and supporting documentation for tax preparation, internal controls, and audit readiness
• Monitor and report on team service-level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying opportunities to improve productivity and service delivery
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end close activities, including AP reconciliations, accruals, and related reporting
• Lead and support internal and external audit activities, providing required documentation and facilitating the resolution of audit findings
• Coach team members, assess individual performance, and support capability development to build a high-performing AP team
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of accounts payable processes, procedures, and systems
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen financial controls, and implement process improvements and automation

About you

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounts payable, finance operations, or a related finance leadership role
• Experience working in medium to large-sized organisations, with exposure to Australian accounting practices considered an advantage
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, accounts payable processes, vendor management, and financial controls
• Proven experience overseeing payment processing, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with ERP systems such as SAP is preferred
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate and reliable financial records
• Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and recommend practical solutions
