About the role
The Accounting Manager leads day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting across the business. This role owns the month-end close, manages the accounting team, and delivers reliable financial statements and management reports. The Accounting Manager partners with management to support financial planning, audits, and continuous process improvements within a retail environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and accuracy of monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Own month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timeliness and data integrity.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Analyze financial results and prepare management reports highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Ensure proper accounting for sales, inventory, shrinkage, and cost of goods sold.
- Maintain accounting systems and procedures aligned with retail operations and store processes.
- Strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Drive process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Background in retail, FMCG, or distribution industry is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems).
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, HR, and marketing to align financial practices.
