Job description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing finance and accounting operations in the Philippines, ensuring accurate financial reporting, tax and regulatory compliance, effective cash flow management, and strong internal controls.

The role will also lead local financial system implementation, support budgeting and financial planning, manage banking and external stakeholder relationships, and provide financial insights to support business growth and investment activities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial & Accounting Operations

Oversee daily accounting operations and monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.

Ensure accurate and timely accounts payable, accounts receivable, payments, payroll, and financial transactions.

Review company expenditures for accuracy, reasonableness, and compliance with company policies.

Manage cash flow, liquidity, banking, cash forecasting, check runs, and fixed assets.

Maintain effective financial and operational controls across the business.

Ensure timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and financial analysis.

Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing with the Accounting Service and Head Office.

Review financial statements and ensure compliance with PFRS and IFRS.

Ensure compliance with Philippine tax requirements, including CIT, VAT, WHT, corporate tax filings, and Transfer Pricing reports.

Monitor changes in accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements and assess their impact on the business.

Lead the country-level implementation of financial systems, acting as the key coordination point between the Philippines team and Head Office/Accounting Hub.

Set up and maintain accounting systems, including Oracle, in compliance with Head Office and local requirements.

Ensure appropriate internal controls, approval authorities, and financial governance are maintained.

Audit & Stakeholder Management

Coordinate with internal and external auditors, tax/customs authorities, regulators, and legal, financial, accounting, and tax advisors.

Ensure compliance with audit, tax, regulatory, and reporting requirements.

Prepare financial presentations, analysis, and insights for management and Board-level audiences.

Financial Planning, Treasury & Business Support

Support financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and business expansion planning.

Oversee CapEx, working capital, debt, taxes, budgeting, and capital structure.

Manage funding activities, loan sourcing, liquidity, and banking relationships.

Analyse financial data, including FX and interest-rate risks, to support cost optimisation and financial governance.

Investment & Strategic Projects

Provide finance and accounting support for new investments and business initiatives.

Coordinate with Financial Due Diligence (FDD) advisors, review business valuations, determine appropriate accounting treatments, and support Purchase Price Allocation (PPA).

Perform other finance-related responsibilities to support the company’s business and operational objectives.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum 7 years of Finance & Accounting experience, including at least 3 years of direct experience in the energy sector.

Strong knowledge of financial and accounting operations, Philippine tax regulations, PFRS/IFRS, capital markets, and funding.

Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow/treasury, audit, and internal controls.

Experience with Oracle or financial system implementation is highly desirable.

Exposure to investment transactions, FDD, valuation, or PPA is an advantage.

Good command of English, with strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Proactive, hands-on, and able to work independently with a positive “How to make it work” mindset.
