Job summary

SM Supermalls seeks an Accounting Manager to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and robust internal controls within a large shared services environment.

The role leads accounting operations, drives process improvements, and collaborates with management to safeguard assets while developing team capabilities and performance through coaching and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Six years of general accounting and financial reporting experience, with at least three in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Audit experience (internal/external) is a plus.
• Proficient in reconciliations and leveraging ERP systems to improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Delivers financial reports to management within the agreed timeframe and format.
• Reviews income statements, notes to financial statements, general ledger, balance sheet accounts, reconciliations and substantiations.
• Manages processors and validators in day‑to‑day operations and coaches them to close performance gaps.
• Identifies areas for improvement, recommends policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Job description

The Accounting Manager will provide relevant, accurate, complete, and timely financial reports to Management. He or she will implement accounting methods, internal controls, policies and procedures in safeguarding the company's assets.

Report Management:

• Delivers the financial reports to management within the agreed timeframe and format.
• Reviews the income statements and notes to the financial statements.
• If necessary, analyze all pertinent financial information in relation to the review of income statements and notes to financial statements.
• Reviews general ledger, balance sheet accounts, reconciliations, and substantiations.
• Assists in handling concerns from internal and external customers with financial reports.

Compliance and Documentation:

• Identifies potential areas for improvement, recommends appropriate policies and procedures, and internal controls.

People Management:

• Manages processors and validators that are responsible in the day-to-day operations.
• Performs consistent and effective coaching sessions to address performance gaps. Attends necessary training programs.

Job Requirements:

• At least six (6) years of work experience in general accounting and financial reporting, three (3) years at least of which is with a managerial or supervisory function. Work experience in internal/external financial audit can also be considered.
• Preferably with experience in managing new teams focused on providing shared services capability.
• Adept in the use of MS Office Applications (especially MS Excel).
• Preferably with experience in SAP or other ERPs/specialty solutions.
• Ability to develop team members and champion strong positive team spirit.
• Proficient in the performance of account reconciliations.
• Ability to develop new ideas and creative solutions.
• Ability to operate successfully in a lean organization.
• Ability to provide high standards of customer care.
