Overview
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
- Month and end-year process
- Accounts payable/receivable
- Cash receipts
- General ledger
- Payroll and utilities
- Cash forecasting
- Revenue and expenditure variance analysis
- Capital assets reconciliations
- Trust account statement reconciliations
- Check runs
- Fixed asset activity
- Debt activity
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
- Coordinate and complete annual audits
- Provide recommendations
- Oversee all payment transactions such as paper checks and so on
- Oversee data entry, validation, and processing of various types of invoices such as general overhead, subcontractor, and employee travel reimbursements
- Keep track of the status of all transactions taking place within the company and external vendors and contractors
- Standardize procedures to generate efficiency in-house and create internal templates to be used by the company
- Be active on the customer service front and be quick and accurate with communication
- Perform work-related tasks as assigned
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy
- Proven working experience as Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor, or Finance Manager
- CPA preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 5 years in a management role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to think strategically and develop long-term financial plans
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with internal controls and audit processes
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
- Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
