About the role

Benson Industrial Cold Storage Inc. is seeking an experienced Accounting Head to lead and manage the accounting operations and financial reporting functions of our organisation. This is a full-time position based in Makati City, Metro Manila. As Accounting Head, you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decision-making. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial integrity of the organisation and supporting its continued growth and success.

Key responsibilities

1. End-to-End Accounting Operations

• Oversee the complete accounting cycle from transaction recording to financial reporting.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cash management, and account reconciliation.
• Ensure accurate recording and proper classification of financial transactions.
• Review journal entries, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and properly maintained.

2. Financial Reporting

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Analyze financial results, variances, and significant account movements.
• Ensure timely submission of financial reports to management.
• Maintain proper supporting schedules and documentation for all major accounts.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to management based on accounting data.

3. Audit Management

• Lead and coordinate internal and external audit activities.
• Prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, and reconciliations.
• Act as the primary accounting contact for external auditors and other financial stakeholders.
• Address audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Strengthen accounting processes and internal controls based on audit recommendations.
• Ensure audit requirements are completed accurately and within deadlines.

4. Tax and Regulatory Compliance

• Oversee preparation and timely filing of required tax returns and government reports.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Philippine accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external tax consultants and auditors when necessary.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Ensure proper documentation and retention of accounting and tax records.

5. Internal Controls

• Develop, implement, and monitor accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify accounting and financial risks and recommend appropriate controls.
• Review financial processes to ensure proper authorization, segregation of duties, and documentation.
• Monitor compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, irregularities, and control issues.

6. Team Leadership and Management

• Lead, supervise, and mentor the accounting team.
• Assign responsibilities and monitor team performance and deadlines.
• Review the team's work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Provide coaching and training to improve technical accounting knowledge and productivity.
• Establish efficient accounting workflows and processes.

7. Cash Flow and Financial Management

• Monitor cash positions, collections, payables, and working capital requirements.
• Coordinate with management regarding cash flow planning and payment schedules.
• Review bank reconciliations and investigate unusual or outstanding transactions.
• Assist management in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.

8. Process Improvement and Systems

• Evaluate and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.
• Assist in the implementation, enhancement, or migration of accounting/ERP systems.
• Ensure accounting data and reports are accurate and properly integrated into financial systems.
• Automate and streamline accounting processes where appropriate.

What we’re looking for

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent is preferred
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or accounting management role
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Philippine accounting standards (PAS), and local tax regulations
• Proficiency in accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant accounting applications
• Excellent understanding of financial accounting, reporting, and the full accounting cycle
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and develop accounting team members effectively
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Experience in the cold storage, logistics, or manufacturing industry is advantageous
• Knowledge of internal audit functions and risk management is a plus
