Job summary

ALTEN Mexico seeks an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with a focus on interior lighting systems for automotive applications. The candidate will lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive program deliverables from concept through launch and lifecycle support.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, strong English communication, and willingness to travel to North America for supplier and assembly plants. This is a full-time engineering position based in Mexico.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Engineering experience focusing on interior components either at OEM or supplier.
  • Knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes including molding, stamping, welding, brazing, machining, casting, coatings.
  • Strong leadership with entrepreneurial mindset and ability to sell ideas to stakeholders.
  • Proven problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Basic financial understanding to maintain program budget.
  • Proven program management with ability to set timelines and execute milestones.
  • Knowledge of DFMEAs and DVP&Rs; Change Management basics.
  • Ability to lead and manage suppliers.
  • Experience co-designing parts/systems with Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Travel to North America for supplier and plant activities may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Technical program management for a vehicle line, coordinating design, program management, engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Ensure systems meet functional and performance requirements within cost, weight, timing, and quality targets.
  • Lead system responsibilities from launch through end of life; support bulletin responses, studies, packaging, cost and weight analysis, supplier management, and tooling kickoff.
  • Coordinate technical issue resolution across all stages of the program.
  • Support plant development and launch activities onsite as a launch team member.
  • Define and update the vehicle development plan to ensure feature availability and coherent vehicle behavior.
  • Release specifications to suppliers and manage Requirements Change Management with DCRs.
  • Lead warranty activities post-launch and manage supplier-related warranty improvements.
  • Lead Value Optimization activities, including teardown events and VO meetings.

We are looking for a mechanical or electrical engineer with experience in automotive lighting systems, with a focus on interior lighting development. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to sell ideas to all and must be self-sufficient with ability to influence and lead others without formal authority.

Main responsibilities:
  • Technical program management for one vehicle lines by being the key point of contact between the design team and all other functional areas such as vehicle program management, engineering departments and manufacturing.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the systems meet all functional and performance requirements while meeting cost, weight, investment, timing, and quality objectives.
  • Lead system responsibilities at any point from launch phase through end of life. Provide dedicated support of bulletin response which may include concept studies, initial packaging, cost and weight analysis, prototype procurement, supplier management, sourcing, tooling kickoff, validation, launch, program maintenance, change management, value optimization, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate technical issue resolution pertaining to engineering and quality at all stages of the program and across all functional areas.
  • Must support plant development and launch activities onsite as a visible member of the launch team representing respective function.
  • Define, share, and update the vehicle development plan to guarantee the coherency of the vehicle behavior and the availability of the planned features at all stages.
  • Release the Specification to all Suppliers and manage the Requirements Change Management process through Design Change Requests (DCR) to ensure the alignment of Requirements with Product Planning requests, bug fixes and feedback from Suppliers.
  • Responsible for warranty performance post launch and lead activities at plant such as warranty table for all commodities under your umbrella to meet target.
  • Responsible for leading activities for Value Optimization to meet established targets for each program by supporting teardown events, supplier VO meetings, processing ideas thru ILO process (0-4).
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Engineering experience with an emphasis on Interior components at either an OEM or supplier.
  • General knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes including molding, stamping, welding, brazing, machining, casting, and coatings.
  • Strong leader with entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to sell ideas to all stakeholders.
  • Proven capability in problem solving and root-causing.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic financial understanding with ability to maintain program budget.

  • Proven capability to develop parts/systems in co-design with third parties (Tier 1s).
  • Ability to review and apply component and system Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis DFMEAs and DVP&Rs.
  • Must be able to manage multiple concurrent activities.
  • Experience in DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) proactive and/or reactive quality tools a plus.
  • Ability and knowledge to create effective presentations.
  • High level of experience with MS Office tools.
  • Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Stellantis systems and/or products a plus.
  • Some travel required to supplier and vehicle assembly plants in North America.
