AT&S is seeking a Specialist CoE IT Server/Linux/Compute/Datacenter in Leoben, Austria. You will ensure high availability, stability, and security of enterprise Datacenter and Server/Linux systems supporting mission-critical production environments.

You will operate, maintain, and optimize Datacenter and Server/Linux platforms, including OS and kernel patching, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and automation of operations. Collaboration with global IT teams is essential.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in IT, Computer Science, or Network Engineering.
• Proven Linux system administration experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of Linux internals, boot process, systemd and process management.
• Experience with memory management, OOM, swap and caching.
• Extensive experience patching OS/kernel in production.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex Linux issues under time pressure.
• Strong Bash scripting for automation.
• Exposure to virtualization/containers like VMware vSphere or Kubernetes is a plus.
• Familiarity with automation/monitoring tools like Ansible, CheckMK is an advantage.

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot large-scale Server&Linux environments (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Perform OS and kernel patching across production and non-production systems with minimal downtime.
• Troubleshoot complex Linux issues, including boot failures, initramfs issues, filesystem corruption, OOM events, and performance degradation.
• Perform deep-dive analysis of CPU, memory, disk I/O, and networking issues.
• Handle production incidents, perform RCA, and implement permanent fixes.
• Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation, health checks, and validations.
• Collaborate closely with application, storage, and network teams.
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and patching procedures.

In your role, you will ensure the high availability, stability, and security of enterprise Datacenter and Server/Linux systems supporting mission-critical production environments. You will operate, maintain, and optimize Datacenter and Server/Linux platforms, taking responsibility for OS and kernel patching, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and automation of operational processes. Working in close collaboration with global IT and infrastructure teams, you will contribute to reliable system operations, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of enterprise computing environments.

Your Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot large-scale Server&Linux environments (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Perform OS and kernel patching across production and non-production systems with minimal downtime
• Troubleshoot complex Linux issues, including boot failures, initramfs issues, filesystem corruption, OOM events, and performance degradation

Your Profile

• Degree in IT, Computer Science, or Network Engineering
• Proven experience in Linux system administration within enterprise environments
• Deep understanding of Linux internals, including the boot process, systemd, services, and process management
• Strong knowledge of memory management, OOM behavior, swap, and caching mechanisms
• Extensive experience with OS and kernel patching in production and mission-critical systems
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex Linux issues under time-critical conditions
• Strong shell scripting skills (Bash) for automation and operational tasks
• Exposure to virtualization and container technologies such as VMware vSphere or Kubernetes is considered a plus
• Familiarity with automation or monitoring tools (e.g., Ansible, CheckMK) is an advantage
