Ravn, a digital product development agency, seeks a Principal Engineer to serve as a technical anchor across client engagements. You’ll design and implement complex systems, mentor engineers, and shape engineering standards while collaborating with Delivery Owners and Product Managers.

This is a hands‑on role mixing architecture, development, mentorship, and strategy. This position is fully remote for Latin America, with optional hybrid in Arequipa, Peru or San Salvador, El Salvador; regular

Formación

• 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including architecture and leadership.
• Full-stack expertise with backend and frontend using modern technologies (Node.js, Java, .NET, Python; React/Angular/Vue).
• Cloud & DevOps: CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and at least one major cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• System thinking: performance, scalability, observability, maintainability.
• Consultative experience: interact with clients, influence technical decisions, explain trade-offs.
• Mentorship: proven success in mentoring and elevating engineering teams.

Responsabilidades

• Architect, design, and occasionally code complex solutions across diverse technology stacks.
• Review and guide system design, infrastructure setup, and pull requests across multiple active projects.
• Ensure non-functional excellence — scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and security.
• Establish and uphold code quality, testing, and CI/CD best practices.
• Drive AI tooling adoption and best practices across Ravn’s engineering teams.
• Oversee a portfolio of projects, ensuring each is on solid technical footing.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide early guidance during project inception.
• Proactively identify risks or inefficiencies across teams and recommend improvements.
• Serve as a technical counterpart to Delivery Owners and Product Managers.
• Translate between technical and business contexts, clarifying trade-offs and guiding decisions.
• Support pre-sales or scoping efforts by providing technical insight and feasibility assessments.
• Lead within Ravn’s Tech Councils to define and evolve engineering standards and frameworks.
• Mentor and coach engineers, helping them define growth plans and reach higher levels of technical mastery.
• Provide ongoing feedback to engineers and participate in annual leveling and assessment processes.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for the technical success of projects under your portfolio.
• Ensure solutions are maintainable, stable, and aligned with long-term client and Ravn goals.
• Model Ravn’s culture of craftsmanship, integrity, and high-velocity execution.

As a Principal Engineer, your primary mission is to serve as a technical anchor and cross-project leader — ensuring architectural integrity, technical quality, and strong execution across multiple client engagements. You’ll design and implement complex systems, mentor engineers, contribute to Ravn’s engineering standards, and act as a trusted technical counterpart to Delivery Owners and Product Managers. This is a hands‑on role that blends architecture, development, mentorship, and strategy.

Core Responsibilities

Technical & Architectural Leadership

Architect, design, and occasionally code complex solutions across diverse technology stacks

Review and guide system design, infrastructure setup, and pull requests across multiple active projects

Ensure non‑functional excellence — scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and security

Lead within Ravn’s Tech Councils to define and evolve engineering standards and frameworks

Mentor and coach engineers, helping them define growth plans and reach higher levels of technical mastery

Provide ongoing feedback to engineers and participate in annual leveling and assessment processes

Accountability & Ownership

Take end‑to‑end responsibility for the technical success of projects under your portfolio

Ensure solutions are maintainable, stable, and aligned with long‑term client and Ravn goals

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including architecture and leadership

Full-Stack Expertise: Strong background in both backend and frontend development using modern technologies (e.g., Node.js, Java, .NET, Python for backend; React, Angular, or Vue for frontend)

Cloud & DevOps: Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP)

System Thinking: Deep understanding of application performance, scalability, observability, and maintainability

Consultative Experience: Proven ability to interact directly with clients, influence technical decisions, and explain trade‑offs clearly

Mentorship: Demonstrated success in mentoring, reviewing, and elevating engineering teams

Location:

This position is open to candidates based anywhere in Latin America and is fully remote. Candidates located near our offices in Arequipa, Peru or San Salvador, El Salvador have the option to work in a hybrid in-office/remote arrangement. While office attendance is not mandatory, regular or occasional visits to the office is valued.
