Job summary

InterContinental Fujairah Resort is seeking a Beach Lifeguard to ensure guest safety on the resort beach and swimming areas. You will monitor conditions, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies with trained rescue and first aid techniques.

The ideal candidate holds a valid Beach Lifeguard qualification, has 2+ years of lifeguard experience in hospitality settings, and communicates in English. Weekend and holiday shifts are required; we offer competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Beach Lifeguard qualification.
• Certified in sea-water rescue, CPR, AED and first aid.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a lifeguard, preferably in hotel or resort settings.

Responsibilities

• Monitor beach and sea areas during operating hours and enforce safety rules.
• Continuously assess seas, tides, weather and currents to prevent incidents.
• Respond to emergencies with sea-water rescues, first aid, CPR, AED and spinal management as needed.
• Inspect rescue equipment and ensure it is safe and ready for use.
• Operate and store equipment safely and report hazards immediately.
• Support guests with a safe beach experience and provide friendly service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Day to Day:

As a Beach Lifeguard, you will ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests using the resort beach and swimming areas. You will continuously monitor water conditions and guest activities, enforce safety procedures, and respond promptly to emergencies while providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests.

Some of your responsibilities are:

• Monitor guests in the designated sea swimming and beach areas during operational hours, ensuring compliance with all beach safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain a zero-drowning standard by continuously monitoring swimmers and assessing sea conditions, tides, weather, currents, and other potential safety risks.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, performing sea-water rescues and providing first aid, CPR, AED, and spinal management as required.
• Inspect the beach area and rescue equipment regularly to ensure they are safe, accessible, properly maintained, and ready for use.
• Maintain and operate all rescue and emergency equipment correctly, ensuring it is safely stored and readily available at all times.
• Report hazards, maintenance issues, accidents, and safety concerns immediately, while strictly adhering to hotel health, safety, hygiene, and emergency procedures.
• Provide professional and friendly assistance to guests, promote safe swimming practices, and support a safe and enjoyable beach experience.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Ideally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for:

• Must hold a valid and active Beach Lifeguard qualification
• Certified and competent in sea-water rescue, CPR, AED, first aid, and spinal management.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a lifeguard, preferably within a hotel, resort, or beach environment.
• Strong knowledge of beach safety procedures, emergency response, tides, currents, weather conditions, and water safety.
• Physically fit, strong swimmer, alert, and able to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Good command of spoken and written English; additional languages are an advantage.
• Strong communication, teamwork, observation, and guest service skills.
• Able to operate, maintain, and safely store rescue and emergency equipment.
• Able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
