Job description

• Experience: 03 to 05 years worked in steel industry preferably in wire drawing.
• Education/Qualification: Preferably Intermediate or ITI

The GI Wire Drawing Operator is responsible for operating wire drawing machines to produce galvanized iron (GI) wire as per specified diameter, quality, and production targets. The role ensures smooth machine operation, adherence to safety standards, and consistent product quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Strait line wire drawing machine to draw wire to required gauges.
• Set up the machine with correct dies, lubricants, and material spools.
• Monitor and adjust machine settings for optimal performance.
• Inspect finished wire for surface defects, proper diameter, and consistency.
• Maintain wire tension and ensure continuous operation with minimal downtime.
• Perform routine maintenance, including die changes, lubrication, and cleaning.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical or quality issues with the drawing process.
• Record production data, including batch numbers, wire sizes, and lengths.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
• Communicate with team leaders and maintenance staff for repairs and improvements.

Qualifications

• Proficient in operating wire drawing machines and related tools.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of wire coatings, especially zinc/galvanizing.
• Ability to read and operate drawings, gauges, and measurement instruments.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface operations.
• Physically fit to handle lifting, standing, and repetitive movements throughout the shift.
