Job summary

Wood is seeking an Omani Telecom Engineer to join its Projects team in Oman on a long-term assignment. You will create engineering deliverables and execute detail design under supervision, helping to maintain quality standards and office processes while contributing to design optimization and client coordination.

The role requires a degree in engineering, extensive FEED experience in oil & gas, and strong teamwork for cross-functional execution on projects across the FEED and detail design

  • Minimum 3 years in FEED/engineering and minimum 8 years in oil & gas experience.

Position Overview

Wood is recruiting for an Omani Telecom Engineer to join its Projects team focusing on delivering across FEED and Detail design scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for creating engineering deliverables and executing detail design under the supervision of a senior engineer for a specific project, ensuring timely completion to the required quality standards. You will assist the senior engineer in developing and updating Office Quality standards and add value to the work optimization process. The position is based in Oman for a long‑term assignment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare engineering deliverables.
  • Conduct relevant workshops and reviews.
  • Contribute to basis for design concept selection, project specifications and detail design execution.
  • Perform engineering studies, review and maintain quality and FEED office standards affecting telecoms in the FEED office.
Typical Responsibilities
  • Responsible for initiating the First‑Cut design of telecom system under the accountability of Sr. Engineer.
  • Responsible for initiating meetings and technical solution discussions between several stakeholders of the project.
  • Responsible for obtaining as‑built information and acquiring solutions in the absence of as‑built information.
  • Responsible for managing technical clarifications on scope and needs.
  • Responsible for coordination with the asset teams for the information.
  • Manage all technical changes internally and obtain approval from discipline leads.
  • Responsible for scope change confirmation (TIN).
  • Accountable for the decision making on changes.
  • Manage all assurance reviews and action close‑outs.
  • Accountable for raising, uploading, liaising with and addressing technical variances.
  • Responsible for approving TPS final reports.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving design and vendor documents in SPO.
  • Responsible for obtaining DEM compliances.
  • Maintain a good relationship with the client; the success of the design project often requires site visits to the client office.
  • Be a team player; recognition of team performance as a whole is a greater priority than projecting individual contributions.
  • Be able to work in a team environment and handle multiple project responsibilities.
  • Application and maintenance of engineering processes, systems, and tools (software).
  • Follow and ensure the quality management system requirements are met in line with ISO 9001:2015 and API Q2 2nd edition requirement.
  • Stay abreast with new telecom technology and innovations.

Experience
  • Degree in relevant engineering or equivalent.
