Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Oman is seeking a Site EHS Officer to lead health, safety and environmental efforts across the Abu Dhabi-Sohar railway project. The role requires coordinating inspections, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance to ensure project success.

The candidate should hold NEBOSH IGC and IOSH Managing Safely certifications, with relevant railway project experience and travel readiness. Fluency in English is required, with additional regional languages a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Civil, or a related discipline.
• Omani nationality is required.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in Health, Safety & Environment, preferably within construction, infrastructure, installation, or railway projects.
• NEBOSH IGC certification, with a Merit pass achieved before 2022.
• IOSH Managing Safely certification.
• Lead Auditor certification in ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Basic or Advanced First Aid certification.
• Valid Oman/GCC driving license is mandatory.
• Practical knowledge of Permit to Work (PTW) systems for installation activities in greenfield and brownfield environments.
• Strong knowledge of incident investigation processes, including root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and detailed reports.
• Good understanding of EHS risk assessment and best practices.
• Experience in railway projects is an advantage.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• English fluency is required; knowledge of additional regional languages is a plus.
• Willingness to travel frequently between project locations.

Responsibilities

• Act as the key contact for Health, Safety, and Environmental matters at the assigned project sites, ensuring compliance with EHS principles, project requirements, and regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections, identify EHS risks, and define and monitor corrective measures.
• Support ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 requirements across the project.
• Monitor compliance with environmental, health, and safety legislation on site.
• Prepare detailed EHS reports covering findings, audits, incidents, actions, and KPIs.
• Maintain records of EHS metrics, incidents, near misses, training, and audits.
• Report and investigate incidents and near misses, including root-cause analysis.
• Monitor subcontractor EHS performance and escalate significant non-compliance.
• Assist in obtaining and maintaining required EHS permits and certifications.
• Review SWMS, risk assessments, and PTW documentation for compliance.
• Communicate EHS requirements to employees and contractors.
• Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, inductions, and training.
• Develop EHS training matrix and ensure training completion.
• Conduct emergency drills and support contingency planning.
• Coordinate with stakeholders on EHS matters and support continuous improvement.
