Job summary

L&T Modular Fabrication Yard LLC in Sohar, Oman is seeking a Welding Engineer to lead welding engineering, planning, and execution on offshore oil & gas modules. You will review WPS, PQR, and method statements and ensure compliance with project specs and standards.

You will coordinate with production, QA/QC, and clients, supervise welders, and drive quality improvements across structural fabrication, piping, pressure vessels, and process modules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Welding Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 8-12 years of welding engineering experience in Oil & Gas, Offshore, EPC, Heavy Fabrication, or Modular Construction Projects.
• Minimum 5 years in a modular fabrication yard or offshore construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welding Method Statements.
• Ensure welding activities comply with project specifications and industry standards.
• Review fabrication and shop drawings and welding requirements before production.
• Prepare welding execution plans in coordination with Production, Planning, and QA/QC teams.
• Select suitable welding processes, consumables, and equipment for various materials and applications.
• Coordinate welder qualification tests and maintain qualification records.
• Provide technical guidance to Welding Supervisors, Foremen, and welders.
• Monitor welding productivity and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Coordinate with QC inspectors and NDT teams; review NDT reports and investigate defects.
• Manage welding consumables, storage, baking, and issue; review certification and traceability.
• Maintain welding documentation and project records; prepare status and performance reports.
• Interface with client representatives, classification societies, and third-party inspection agencies.
