Our client, an ambitious and growing law firm in Oman offering a broad range of legal services to corporate and individual clients, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Sole Accountant & Billing Officer to manage the firm's accounting functions and legal billing operations.
The ideal candidate will be involved with preparing financial reports and statements, bank reconciliations, and conducting cyclical audits.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Duties
- 1. Maintain accurate accounting records and financial transactions
- 2. Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, cash accounts, and other balance sheet accounts
- 3. Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
- 4. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- 5. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- 6. Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow
- 7. Process payroll and staff reimbursements
- 8. Prepare and issue customer invoices
- 9. Ensure compliance with Omani tax, VAT, and financial regulations
- 10. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- 11. Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities
Payroll & Administration
- 1. Process payroll and employee expense reimbursements
- 2. Maintain payroll records and statutory deductions
- 3. Support finance-related administrative tasks as required
Billing & Revenue Management
- 1. Prepare and issue client invoices based on lawyers' timesheets, fixed-fee arrangements, and retainer agreements
- 2. Ensure timely invoicing
- 3. Follow up on outstanding payments and maintain aging reports
- 4. Reconcile client accounts and billing records
- 5. Coordinate with lawyers and partners regarding billing matters and fee collections
- 6. Generate billing and revenue reports for management review
Requirements
- 1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2. Professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent are an advantage
- 3. Minimum 6-8 years+ of experience in accounting, billing, or finance administration
- 4. Experience in a law firm, consulting firm, or professional services environment is preferred
- 5. Strong understanding of accounting principles, invoicing, and receivables management
- 6. Knowledge of VAT regulations and financial reporting requirements in Oman
- 7. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- 8. Excellent numerical, analytical, and organizational skills
- 9. Strong communication and follow-up abilities
- 10. Fluency in English; preferably native Arabic speaker
