Job summary

Aggreko in Oman is seeking a Project Electrical Technician to perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and commissioning of Jenbacher gas engines at customer sites.

The role requires deep technical knowledge, hands-on problem solving, and a commitment to safe, reliable power generation solutions.

Qualifications

• Electrical technician with 5+ years of experience in power generation.
• Jenbacher gas engines experience preferred; alternative large gas engines accepted.
• Mandatory: FTB (Field Technician Basic) Certification and CE1 Certification.
• Willingness to travel frequently to various customer sites.
• Associate degree or equivalent preferred in Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls on Jenbacher gas generator sets.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical and control systems (low and high voltage).
• Lead commissioning and decommissioning of gas power generation equipment at customer sites.
• Maintain accurate service records, documents, and reports of maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, sales, and project management teams to deliver seamless service solutions.

Job description

Bring your energy to Aggreko as Project Electrical Technician, who will responsible for the advanced commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of gas generator sets, with a strong emphasis on Jenbacher engines. This role requires a deep technical understanding, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to ensuring optimal performance and reliability of Aggreko's power generation equipment, contributing directly to our operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Power without pause. Heating, cooling and oil-free air without end. We keep our customers’ worlds on. From world-class events that last a few weeks to mining operations and remote communities who rely on us for decades.

What you’ll do as Project Electrical Technician:

• Perform complex diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls on gas generator sets, specializing in Jenbacher engines.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of electrical and control systems Low voltage and high voltage.
• Lead the commissioning and decommissioning of gas power generation equipment at customer sites.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Aggreko's safety policies and industry standards.
• Utilize specialized tools and diagnostic software to identify and resolve technical issues.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians.
• Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and reports on all maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, sales, and project management teams to deliver seamless service solutions.
• Manage spare parts inventory and requisitions effectively.
• Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with new technologies and equipment.

You are:

• Electrical Expertise:Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) as an Electrical Technician, specifically with power generation equipment.
• Engine Specialization: Preferred:Proven primary experience with Jenbacher gas engines. Alternative:Extensive experience with other large-scale gas generator engines (e.g., Waukesha, Caterpillar, MTU, Rolls-Royce, etc.).
• Certifications: Mandatory:FTB (Field Technician Basic) Certification. Mandatory:CE1 (Commissioning Engineer 1) Certification.
• Technical Skills:Strong understanding of gas engine electrical systems, transformers, other HV equipment.
• Diagnostic Tools:Proficient in using specialized diagnostic tools and software for engine analysis and troubleshooting.
• Safety Acumen:Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and practices.
• Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Travel:Ability to travel frequently, often on short notice, to various customer sites.
• Physical Requirements:Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in various weather conditions, and perform duties in challenging industrial environments.
• Preferred Qualifications: Associate's Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience with Aggreko-specific equipment and systems. Experience in a field service role. Certifications:CE1 and CE2 Certification.
