Job description

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of Electric Power Controls & communication installations in designated areas (plants, process utility, power generation, workshop, offices, laboratories) while observing safety rules and contributing to KPIs per the Department Business Plan.
  • Maintain Electric Power Controls & communication systems, preserving the operational integrity of equipment.
  • Provide preventive and corrective maintenance of electronic equipment to minimize downtime, reduce costs, and ensure reliability and availability.
  • Receive assignments or work orders from electrical supervisors and coordinate activities with technicians and operators to resolve issues with electrical motors and lighting systems.
  • Install and maintain electrical installations in refinery units (process utility, generation, workshop, offices, laboratories, etc.).
  • Provide emergency unscheduled repairs, troubleshoot, and perform scheduled preventive maintenance repairs.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments using hand and power tools and electric meters.
  • Test and certify portable electrical tools.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean, orderly work areas.
  • Monitor electrical parameters of power systems and installations.
  • Ensure correct installation of over‑current and under‑voltage protection devices, circuit breakers, fuses, etc.
  • Diagnose, repair, and test wiring or circuit faults using tools such as voltmeters and ammeters; refer to wiring diagrams as necessary.
  • Check electrical motors, generators, switchgear, etc., ensuring all connection points and cables withstand designated capacity voltages.
  • Dismantle, re‑assemble electrical equipment, and replace or repair parts such as start switches, controls, wiring, and elements.
  • Test equipment insulation, coil windings, and motor electrical integrity.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, annual, and turnaround maintenance for 132kV and 33kV breakers, power transformers, VFDs, battery chargers, UPS units, protection relays, batteries, IPCS, PMS systems, and more.

  • Internal: Electrical Supervisors, Team Leads, Planners, Operations SLT, HSE.

Qualifications
  • Full‑time Diploma in Electrical Engineering (certificates from private institutes not acceptable).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Electrical Technician; 4 years for a Senior Technician.
  • Experience as an electrical technician in refinery/petrochemical plants.
  • Knowledge of refinery/petrochemical electrical power distribution systems.
  • Working experience on power transformers, VFDs, emergency diesel generators, 132kV/33kV switchgear, protection relays, UPS, battery chargers, batteries.
  • Workshop electrical testing and repair techniques.
  • Use of special tools and test equipment for electrical maintenance.
  • Proficiency in MSOffice.
  • Excellent written, read, and spoken English.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, measuring and testing devices.
  • Result‑oriented, time‑management, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with refinery and petrochemical industry operations.
