Job summary

National Oilwell Varco in Oman seeks an Engineer – Operational Excellence to drive site-wide improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. You will supervise the QC team, uphold the QMS, and lead root-cause analyses with corrective actions.

You will develop and implement Lean initiatives across production, engineering, and supply chain, monitor metrics, and coordinate audits. Strong leadership and data-driven decision skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in manufacturing or quality engineering roles.
• Proven experience leading operational excellence or continuous improvement programs.
• Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with inspection techniques, quality systems, and product traceability.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management standards.
• Effective communication and leadership abilities to supervise cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with quality and data analysis software (e.g., Minitab, SPC tools).

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute operational excellence and continuous improvement strategies across the site.
• Supervise the Quality Control team to ensure inspections, testing, and product traceability meet customer and regulatory standards.
• Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) and support internal and external audits.
• Lead root‑cause investigations, corrective action plans, and preventive measures.
• Analyze performance data to identify trends, drive improvements, and report results to senior management.
• Implement Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping) to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply‑chain teams to align quality objectives with operational goals.
• Monitor safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery metrics, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.
• Facilitate training and coaching on quality and Lean methodologies for staff at all levels.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
