Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, from a recognized institution.
Experience:
Minimum 1–2 years of practical experience in a hospital blood bank or transfusion service laboratory
Language Requirement:
Proficiency in English is a must.
Job Description:
Laboratory Teaching and Practical Support
- Prepare, set up, and demonstrate practical sessions in:
- Blood Banking
- Immunohematology techniques
- Assist faculty in delivering laboratory-based teaching and simulation exercises
- Provide hands-on training in:
- Blood grouping and crossmatching
- Antibody screening and identification
- Compatibility testing and transfusion procedures
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) during practical sessions
Laboratory Management and Maintenance
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning of:
- Monitor and maintain laboratory inventory, reagents, and consumables
- Prepare and submit annual requirements for consumables and equipment
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and biosafety standards
Student Support and Assessment
- Guide students during laboratory sessions and ensure active participation
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback on practical skills
- Assist in assessing student performance through:
- Practical exams
- Laboratory reports and competency checklists
- Support students in developing technical and diagnostic competencies
Clinical Training Support
- Assist in coordination of clinical placements in blood banks and transfusion services
- Communicate with hospital laboratory staff and preceptors when requiredSupport evaluation of student performance during clinical training
Research and Academic Support
- Assist in preparation and execution of student research projects and wet lab activities
- Support faculty in laboratory-based research activities where required
Administrative and Documentation Duties
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Laboratory inventory
- Equipment maintenance logs
- Student attendance and practical performance
- Prepare laboratory manuals, worksheets, and teaching materials
- Support accreditation and quality assurance documentation
Professional Development and Service
- Participate in Continuous Medical Education (CME) activities and workshops
- Stay updated with advances in transfusion medicine and laboratory technologies
- Contribute to departmental academic activities and events
General Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with faculty and laboratory staff to achieve departmental objectives
- Demonstrate professionalism, innovation, and commitment to quality education
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of the MLS program
