Job summary

National University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Sohar invites applications for Laboratory Technician, Immunohematology – MLS. The role supports teaching, practicals, and clinical training within the BS-MLS Department.

Candidates should hold a BSc in Medical Laboratory Science or Biomedical Science and have 1–2 years of hospital blood bank experience; English proficiency is required to communicate effectively in academic settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Biomedical Science from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 1–2 years of practical experience in a hospital blood bank or transfusion service laboratory.
• Proficiency in English is a must.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, and demonstrate practical sessions in Blood Banking and Immunohematology techniques.
• Assist faculty in delivering laboratory-based teaching and simulation exercises.
• Provide hands-on training in blood grouping, crossmatching, antibody screening and identification.
• Ensure adherence to SOPs during practical sessions.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory; submit annual consumables/ equipment requirements.
• Support student assessment through practical exams and competency checklists.
• Coordinate clinical placements and communicate with hospital staff as needed.
• Assist in research projects and wet lab activities.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, equipment logs, attendance and teaching materials.
• Participate in CME activities and stay updated with transfusion medicine advances.
• Demonstrate professionalism and teamwork in the MLS program.
