Job description

Intermediate Drainage Design Engineer
Renardet – Oman
Position Overview

Renardet SA and Partners Oman is seeking a proficient Drainage Design Engineer at an intermediate career stage (5–8 years of experience) to join our team in Oman. This role is intended for a design professional who operates independently on technical assignments and is ready to progress toward a senior‑level position. You will contribute to the delivery of robust stormwater and drainage infrastructure through sound hydrological assessment, hydraulic design, and client‑facing communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake comprehensive hydrological assessments using GIS and industry-recognized software (e.g., HEC‑RAS, SSA, StormCAD, SWMM or equivalent) to determine catchment characteristics, runoff generation, and design flow rates.
  • Perform hydraulic design and sizing of drainage conveyance systems, including stormwater pipe networks and open channels.
  • Produce detailed design documentation and construction‑ready drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D (alignments, profiles, grading, and pipe networks).
  • Prepare clear, logically structured design reports and technical memoranda in English.
  • Deliver professional presentations to clients, articulating design methodology, results, and recommendations with confidence and clarity.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary project teams and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff as appropriate.
Candidate Profile
  • Between five and eight years of professional experience in drainage engineering, with a focus on hydrology and hydraulic design (consulting background preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out hydrological assessments using GIS and recognized modelling applications.
  • Solid competence in the hydraulic design of both piped systems and open channels.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., QGIS, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, SWMM, SewerGEMS, StormCAD, or similar).
  • Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil/drainage infrastructure design.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with a track record of producing high‑quality technical reports.
  • Comfortable in a client‑facing role; able to lead technical discussions and presentations without supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline. A postgraduate qualification in Water Resources or Hydrology would be viewed favourably.
What We Offer
  • Involvement in technically challenging and meaningful infrastructure projects across Oman.
  • A clearly defined pathway from intermediate to senior engineer with genuine career progression.
  • A collaborative, multicultural working environment that values technical rigour and professional development.
  • Competitive remuneration and an attractive expatriate package (where applicable).
