Job summary

Codevative is seeking an experienced backend Java developer to design, implement, and maintain microservices and APIs for core banking functions. You will optimize SQL/NoSQL databases, integrate with payment gateways, and ensure security and regulatory compliance across the stack.

You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable banking software, write comprehensive tests, and mentor junior developers while adhering to CI/CD practices and cloud/containerization standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional backend Java development experience in banking/financial services.
• Proven expertise in Java-based microservices and RESTful APIs for high-volume transactions.
• Deep understanding of financial transaction processing, core banking systems, and regulatory frameworks.
• Proficiency with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Experience with messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) for asynchronous banking communications.

Job Responsibilities

• Design develop and maintain robust scalable and secure Java-based microservices and APIs for core banking functionalities


• Implement and optimize database solutions SQL NoSQL ensuring data integrity performance and security within financial systems


• Integrate with third-party financial services payment gateways and internal banking platforms using various protocols and standards


• Develop and execute comprehensive unit integration and performance tests to ensure the reliability and stability of banking applications


• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues performing root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions for critical financial systems


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including front-end developers QA engineers business analysts and product managers to deliver high-quality banking solutions


• Ensure compliance with strict banking regulations security standards e g PCI DSS GDPR and internal policies throughout the development lifecycle


• Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions advocating for best practices in performance security and maintainability of banking software


• Automate deployment processes using CI CD pipelines and tools ensuring efficient and reliable delivery of banking software updates


• Mentor junior developers conduct code reviews and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the banking technology team


• Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundational knowledge


• Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in backend Java development, with a significant portion focused on the banking or financial services industry.


• Proven expertise in developing and deploying Java-based microservices and RESTful APIs, handling high transaction volumes.


• Deep understanding of financial transaction processing, core banking systems, and related regulatory frameworks.


• Proficiency in relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) for financial data management.


• Experience with messaging queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) for asynchronous communication in banking systems.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, crucial for debugging complex financial applications and identifying systemic issues.


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork with diverse stakeholders in a banking environment.


• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.


• Fluency in English, with proficiency in any additional banking-relevant languages being a plus.
