Overview

The role covers financial management, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger operations, preparation and maintenance of profit and loss statements, annual budgets, and long-term financial projections. It also involves monitoring cash flow, ensuring timely supplier settlements, managing rebate income and promotional contributions, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations including Oman VAT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger operations.
• Prepare and maintain profit and loss statements, annual budgets, and long-term financial projections.
• Monitor cash flow and ensure timely supplier settlements.
• Manage rebate income, promotional contributions, and other supplier-related financial settlements.
• Ensure adherence to Omani accounting standards and financial regulations; be aware of Oman VAT requirements; file VAT returns regularly and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes effectively.
• Inventory and stock accounting: monitor stock valuation, aging, and clearance accounting; reconcile stock records with procurement and warehouse teams.
• Support procurement in aligning financial records with stock movements.
• Sales analysis and reporting: conduct product-wise sales analysis, prepare daily sales reports for management review, provide insights into sales performance and recommendations.
• Expense control: monitor and control operating expenses to maintain profitability; identify and address financial leakages or inefficiencies and implement corrective measures; support management in cost optimization initiatives.
• Supplier promotion accounting: track supplier agreements, rebates, and promotional contributions; ensure accurate accounting of flyer promotions and marketing support from suppliers; collaborate with procurement to align financial terms with supplier negotiations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional qualification required: ACCA, CA, or MBA in Accounting & Finance.
• Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, preferably in retail or hypermarket operations.
• Strong knowledge of Omani VAT (5%) regulations, tax laws, and financial compliance requirements.
• Experience in preparing profit and loss statements, annual budgets, and financial projections.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting software and MS Office applications.
• Strong analytical skills with expertise in sales and expense analysis.
