Job summary

Mitre10 MEGA Kapiti on the Kapiti Coast is seeking a hands-on team leader to run two service desks, train staff, and ensure smooth front-end operations including POS and special orders.

You will guide checkout operators, support SAP migration, manage change, weekends, and deliver a positive customer experience with a solutions-first mindset; remuneration is competitive and staff buying privileges are offered.

About the role

• Lead, roster and develop a team of checkout operators and keyholders across two service desks.
• Own day-to-day front-end operations, including customer flow and point-of-sale systems.
• Train new hires quickly and effectively, given higher turnover in checkout roles.
• Handle special orders, returns, complaints and delivery inquiries with a solutions-first approach.
• Act as a super user for the upcoming SAP migration, training the wider team and management.
• Foster a positive, cohesive team culture and manage day-to-day people dynamics.
• Share duty management responsibilities with the Zone Manager (Shop Floor).
• Support your team through change, including the SAP rollout and a new store build.

About you

• You have proven experience leading a team in a fast-paced retail environment (big box, supermarket, or warehouse-style volume is ideal).
• You have a genuine, super customer-focused approach and enjoy solving problems for people.
• You have experience with point-of-sale systems and pick up new technology quickly.
• You are comfortable handling high-volume, varied customer interactions under pressure.
• You are process-driven with strong attention to detail and a commitment to following procedure.
• You are a natural people leader who is positive, engaging, and skilled at bringing a team together.

• You are comfortable working weekends and around peak-season blackout periods.
