Job summary

Wairau Intermediate in Auckland invites applications for a Year 7–8 team leader on a permanent basis from Term 1, 2027, as part of our progressive North Shore school.

We seek an innovative leader who will guide the Year 7–8 team, weave tikanga, te reo Māori, and culturally sustaining pedagogy into teaching, and build strong partnerships with students, staff and whānau to support equitable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Guide the Year 7-8 team, fostering a positive, culturally responsive, and collaborative environment
• Weave tikanga, reo Māori, and culturally sustaining pedagogy into teaching, learning spaces, and decision-making
• Deliver an engaging, localised curriculum for Year 7-8 students using evidence-based practice
• Provide academic and pastoral care to ensure student success and wellbeing
• Maintain clear communication, strong organisation, and empower both learners and staff
• Build respectful partnerships with whānau Māori and the wider school community
• Observe teaching, provide constructive feedback, and build team capability
• Support senior leadership, school goals, board policies, and embody our school values.
