Job summary

Waterloo School in Wellington, NZ is seeking an inspiring, passionate and visionary leader to head our senior hub. You will drive collaborative practice, coach staff, and foster continuous improvement to ensure learners thrive academically, socially, and culturally.

As a key member of our leadership team, you will balance strategic leadership with outstanding classroom practice and contribute to our strategic plan. Position commences Term 1, 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a school team; ability to coach staff and drive collaborative inquiry.
• Strong knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and evidence-based literacy and mathematics instruction.

Responsibilities

• Support, mentor, and build the capacity of your team through coaching and collaborative inquiry.
• Demonstrate pedagogy aligned with the refreshed NZ Curriculum and strong literacy and mathematics teaching.
• Build partnerships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues to foster an inclusive, high-performing learning environment.
• Lead with energy, positivity, and a collaborative staff culture.
• Contribute to the school’s strategic plan and provide opportunities for leadership growth.

• Demonstrate exceptional pedagogy with deep knowledge of the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum, particularly in structured, effective Literacy and Mathematics teaching.
• Build strong, trust-based partnerships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues to foster an inclusive, high-performing learning environment.
• Bring energy, positivity, and a sense of fun to our staffroom and learning spaces.
