Job summary

Halsey Drive School in Auckland invites a dedicated Year 6 teacher for Terms 1 and 2, 2027 to cover maternity leave. The role is full-time, fixed-term, starting 3 February 2027.

You will deliver the NZ Curriculum across English, health and physical education, mathematics and statistics, science, social sciences, te reo Māori, technology, The arts, and learning languages, with a focus on high-quality, inclusive teaching and learner wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of the NZ Curriculum and effective literacy and numeracy practices.
• Fosters learner agency, independence, and leadership.
• Designs engaging, differentiated learning experiences for senior learners.
• Builds positive relationships with students, whānau, and colleagues.
• Embraces multicultural richness and supports inclusive practices.
• Experience with structured literacy and related programmes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Teach Year 6 in a fixed-term capacity during Terms 1 and 2, 2027.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
• Support student wellbeing and inclusive practice across the class.
• Assess, monitor, and report on learner progress in line with NZ Curriculum.

Are you an enthusiastic, innovative, and culturally responsive teacher with a passion for senior primary learners? We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative professional to join our vibrant teaching team in a Year 6 classroom at the start of Term 1, 2027.

This is a fixed-term position for Terms 1 and 2, 2027, while 1 of our Year 6 teachers takes on an Acting Deputy Principal role to cover maternity leave.
