Job summary

ALH Auckland is seeking an experienced supervisor to lead a team of approximately 10 staff in a busy yard environment. This 80% hands-on role requires strong leadership, a focus on Health & Safety, and the ability to report to the Operations Manager and owner.

You will manage rostering, training, and day-to-day workflow, coordinate loading/unloading of scrap metal, and support your team of supervisors, operators and yard staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in a supervisory or management role within Civil, Scrap metal, Timber, Recycling, Manufacturing, or similar.
• Strong people leadership with the ability to manage teams and hold people accountable.
• Commitment to Health & Safety and safe work practices.
• Full NZ Driver's Licence (essential) — forklift licence and/or digger experience an advantage.
• Hands-on attitude with great communication skills.
• Pre-employment drug & alcohol testing required.
• Good work references required.

Responsibilities

• Review and make recommendations to continuously improve H&S processes, delivering staff inductions and training.
• Maintain a high level of customer service skills.
• Leading daily yard operations, including loading, unloading, and processing scrap metal.
• Managing and supporting your team of supervisors, operators and yardman.
• Overseeing rostering, task allocation, and day-to-day workflow.
• Acting as the key contact between yard operations and senior management.

• Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm
• Every second Saturday: 6:00 am – 12:00 pm
