Job summary

Hirestaff in Christchurch is seeking a Timber Yard Worker to join a busy outdoor timber yard. You will operate a counterbalance forklift, load and unload trucks, and pick timber orders. This is a hands‑on role requiring careful manual handling and a good attitude.

The position is full‑time, Monday to Friday with weekly pay and immediate start. Candidates should have a current forklift license, be physically fit, reliable and prepared to work as part of a friendly team.

Qualifications

• Forklift operation experience in a yard or timber environment.
• Must hold a current Counterbalance Forklift License.
• Physically fit with ability to perform manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Operate a counterbalance forklift to move timber and materials.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Pick and prepare timber orders.
• Stack and organise stock around the yard.
• Care for yard safety and cleanliness.

Timber Yard Worker / Counterbalance Forklift Operator

The Role

We’re looking for a reliable Timber Yard Worker to join a busy team in Christchurch. This is a hands‑on role working in an outdoor timber yard, with plenty of forklift operation and general yard duties.

Your day‑to‑day duties will include:

• Operating a counterbalance forklift to move timber and materials
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Picking and preparing timber orders
• Stacking and organising stock around the yard
• General yard and manual handling duties
• Keeping the yard clean, safe and organised
• Working as part of a friendly, hardworking team

About You

• Current Counterbalance Forklift License required
• Previous forklift experience, ideally in a yard or timber environment
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
• Reliable and punctual
• Good attitude and strong work ethic
• Own reliable transport is preferred

Timber yard or building supplies experience is a bonus, but not essential for the right person.
